Yesterday,India celebrated its 69th Republic Day.
India has come a long way since then, and there’s still a lot more to achieve. In the past 69 years of achievements and failure,we cannot forget from where it all started.
How many us even know what the Republic Day stands for,why do we even celebrate it when we got independent on August 15th.
Here are some findings to analyze what the Indian youth actually know about the Republic Day.
1. 1 out of every 3 Indian does not know when we first celebrated the Republic Day .
India became republic on 26th January 1950 when the Constitution of India came into effect.
2. 13% of the youth of today thinks that the President who attended the first ever Republic Day was either Abdul Kalam, Jawaharlal Nehru or Ramnath Govind.
It was Dr. Rajendra Prasad who attended the first Republic Day at Red Fort.
3. 95% of the citizens believe that Republic Day is celebrated because the constitution came into effect on this day. 4% however, believe it is because Mughals left India that day.
A few Indians think that that Republic Day is celebrated because Mughals left India that day. Mughal rule came to an end with the British Raj.
4. Only 92% know that BR Ambedkar drafted India’s constitution.
B.R Ambedkar is the Father of Indian Constitution.Still,5% credit Subash Chandra Bose for the Constitution. Bose died in 1945!
5.A huge 67% believe that the Queen of England is the Chief Guest this Republic Day.
The 10 leaders of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations or ASEAN were the guests of honor at the ceremonial parade being held at Rajpath.
