‘It is difficult to make a man miserable while he feels worthy of himself’ Abraham Lincoln
What is Self-Worth?
Self-worth is what enables us to believe that we are capable of doing our best with our talents. Building it up again is therefore natural, essential, and healthy. How to build self-worth??
#Trust your own feelings
This is an interesting scenario. It’s a scenario that many people probably never really take the time to think. Self-worth requires that you learn to listen to and rely on your own feelings, when you trust your own feelings, you’ll recognize unfair demands and be able to respond to them better.
#Stop making your self-worth conditional on other people
Unfortunately, many people live up to other people’s expectations, and make choices like what to study, what career to choose, where to live, and how many children to have and the list goes on. Just listen to people but follow you own heart. Make your own decisions, don’t get use to the suggestions of people because a time will come yo’ll be left alone to suffer at that moment of the the decisions you make will guide you.
#Tell yourself that you matter
Start changing the negative self-talk that you might have developed over time. Tell yourself you’re special, wonderful, lovable, and loved. Affirmative talk is a very good method for boosting yourself and for taking out time to acknowledge that you do matter, just as much as every person around you.
#Build your self-confidence
Improving your self-confidence is a great way to work on yourself. Block the negative thoughts, every time you have one try to turn it into something positive. Surround yourself with people who are uplifting and supportive and stay away from negative people. Build self confidence and set realistic goals for yourself. Always be positive and improve your self confidence.
#Work on your resilience
What is resilience? It is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties; toughness. Resilient people have the emotional strength to get through life’s difficulties without falling apart. It’s all about how you react and work your way through them. Try to focus on what you need to do to change the situation or the circumstances.
#Break the habit of trying to please other people
When you stop pleasing everyone else, you can start working on your own happiness and self-worth. Express your feelings instead of bottling them up. In doing so, respect the feelings of others but don’t be beholden to them.
#Value your time, balance the time you give away to others
Spend your time with those who matters genuinely to you, don’t waste your time or effort on people who are not at all worth giving. This doesn’t mean that you have to give up helping out completely, but be smart enough to let go unwanted people.
#Live in the present
The only moment that truly matters is ‘NOW’. Live in the present, let go of the past, don’t worry about the future. Live your present life, all you have is the moment you are living in. Let go the past and future and try be in present moment.
